i guess i asked for it

total change of plans. only made it as far as aptos. bike computer busted today and held up progress. i did break my millenium marker, though. despite my computer's refusal to acknowledge. i did some math, and taking into account off bike days, i find my riding average hovers around 50 miles a day. i was feeling like that wasn't much, and i'll never get anywhere at this rate, but then i met a bike tourist riding in a long skirt, sticking around santa cruz because she'd found a place to spin the llama wool she's been carrying on the bike for weeks. everyone's got their own ride; i keep spreading the gospel. i'm hoping to close in on big sur tomorrow... and see the coast people are always talking about. i remain true, as ever, to southern oregon.

Back in the saddle

Everything about today was mild. Not even medium salsa, 1 star panang curry, just plain mild. Sunny, 65 degrees, and flat, from san francisco to pigeon point lighthouse. I rode 63 miles, and I am already sitting on the beach, while the tide rolls out.I actually managed to eat before I was starving, to refill my water bottles before they were empty. . .I didn't even get sunburned. What I mean is, today was kind of boring. Now I'm going to go sit in a hot tub. Stare at the ocean with a retiree on a road trip. Even San fran sissy wasn't this comfortable.
